I hope everyone stayed safe this new years.
For me, I stay inside every year and mourn, because I have lost someone on a previous new years, and to hear a life extinguished by gunshots that you mistake for fireworks, just a few blocks away from where you are playing video games, is something you probably can't forget.
To know you could have potentially done something in an emergency haunts many people.
To realize there is nothing you could have done, and that there is also nothing you can do to prevent such a thing from occurring again, is harrowing.
Such is life. I look forward to another great year of life, and I pray that none of us experience significant trauma in 2025.
#RIP to a good friend that Nostr will never have the opportunity to meet. It has been 5 years today. The kindest souls depart far too soon. Cherish everyone you love., even those you don't chat with enough. Even your enemies. We're all in this together.
I have always adored fireworks but sadly I just can't enjoy them any more. Injuring myself with them as a teenager and living with tinnitus doesn't help either. But most importantly the animals hate them. So please be considerate and safe in their use. But enjoy the lights.
