"Mr. Harriott himself, who came to the Country when quite a boy and is much liked by the Natives generally, being upon a voyage once, accompanied only by two men, fell in with a band of Assiniboines to whom he was well known, and as it is almost a universal custom when we meet Indians to give them where-with to smoke, he drew up his horse and in order to get the Tobacco from his pocket laid his gun for a moment across his saddle... #CanadaHistory #HistoryBook
