There is exactly one group in Wayland that pushes against SSD and it's GNOME. You want to talk about standards and forcing designs on anyone, just look in the mirror. GNOME has been stonewalling it for a decade and the rest of the ecosystem told them to pound sand and built a solution. It's time they get over it.
