Will Nostr ever really surpass Twitter in terms of daily active users? Without the ability to collect user’s data based on their likes and follows and having an algorithm directly target similar content to them, it will probably never be as addictive. I do still remain confident that it will surpass Twitter, however, as it’ll be a matter of necessity for users to migrate. The centralised platforms will not be able to resist shooting themselves in the foot by censoring/ shadow-banning anyone and everyone that happens to even remotely disagree with “the current thing”. For this mass exodus to be effective, it is imperative that Nostr remains neutral, like Bitcoin- it mustn’t be perceived as the “right-wing/ left-wing echo chamber”- unless it’ll suffer the same fate as the likes of Parler, despite Nostr being an open decentralised protocol. Nostr ends the cycle of so-called “free speech platforms” that really only respect freedom of speech until they reach a certain size, in which case they inevitably bow to Big Brother and the cycle repeats itself.
