Had an intersting discussion with students about the value of activism and protests. I said I didn’t agree with violence, but I appreciated how it suddenly makes other groups look reasonable, allowing for effective negotiation (example: Earth First made the Sierra Club look reasonable so they were able to be more effective).
One student started laughing and said they understood my point, but had to disagree with the effectiveness of violence. They were from Northern Ireland.
