And if you do want to do it yourself, well, that's a ton of work and you need to be exposed to someone before you know to block them. It sucks.
I guess best you can do is try to pick someone that seems trustworthy and who makes an effort to be transparent about who is blocked and why. Which, funnily enough, is a big part of why I chose my current instance.
