From their 2021 report (I couldn't find this chart in the 2023 version), over 50% of oil demand is from transport and industry: https://www.iea.org/data-and-statistics/charts/oil-total-final-consumption-by-sector-1971-2019
Yet they predict oil demand will remain steady to 2050 https://origin.iea.org/data-and-statistics/charts/oil-demand-by-region-in-the-stated-policies-scenario-2000-2050 (while coal demand will decrease).
Given the push to electrify transport and industry, why is oil demand predicted to remain steady?
