I recently got the new COVID booster and I'm grateful for it, but it's so strange to me that it's become an annual thing given that studies have shown COVID vaccine efficacy is virtually nonexistent by about six months.
I understand why flu and pneumonia vaccinations are annual, especially since they seem to be seasonal and specifically prevalent around fall and winter, but COVID doesn't discriminate against seasons and new variants are detected much more frequently, so shouldn't we be at a point where COVID boosters are circulating in something closer to a six-month cycle or even less?
