Chat UX expectations are uber high for 
of people. As they should be. Not one app is even close rn.
Two main problems:
1️⃣ NIP-17 is built on the assumption that you can just have a comms channel between multiple npubs, without someone being able to set the terms for said channel. That's a freaking breeding ground for inconsistent UX. For chat you need a global state.
Like in the real world: having a conversation with in my house isn't the same as having it in your house or having it on the radio. The room matters. And you can have multiple rooms with the exact same npub. With different npubs in charge of each room. You can't get around this is in a decentralized context.
MLS is going in the right direction for this I think.
