I need these people to understand that I have never once thought to myself "I'll just put on a random playlist of Christmas pop". This never happens. I'm amazed if anyone does. It's been weeks since I've walked into a shop and heard any song more lyrically interesting than "everybody's happy because there's a robin, la la la" so if I'm in control of the music, we're listening to literally anything else. The game is fun precisely because there's nothing anyone can do to improve their chances of winning. Do they imagine people stay home for the whole of December, dutifully self-isolating in case they accidentally go into a Tesco and catch CHRISTMAS-83? It's a month-long game of bingo, for no prize, a silly bet people make with their friends for fun, and here people are ostentatiously refusing to get involved and claiming it's because *they alone* understand how to experience joy, and that's by listening to perhaps the most ubiquitous and least interesting art humanity has ever produced. It's very silly. Stop it.
