Quick cheap dopamine -
[Warning: this is probably like anecdotal and not actually facts, so don't argue but do post info that's relevant]
These are in no particular order-
🧦Accomplish something. Put on clean socks or clean up the table top by your bed. Find something small that can take fewer than 10 minutes but that you have been needing to do. It can even be something you don't need to do.
🚶🏼♂️ Move your body somehow. Dance, go for a walk, put on a pretty skirt and twirl around. Do something that feels good. You don't have to do it very long. 90 seconds is enough to start. 30 seconds is enough to start.
👀 Go outside and look around. Try to find a bird or another animal to take note of.
☎️ call someone you like and say something nice to them, can also be a text or an email or whatever, just a little moment of gratitude that you get to know this cool person
🎃 Feed your curiosity. Lean into the most recent thing that you like. Change your phone background. Listen to a book or podcast about something you're learning about. No pressure to be perfect or to actually learn anything, just relaxing and being adjacent to something that makes you happy.
My main strategy is to overcome the inertia of a bad mood by interrupting it with something.
This is not a strategy to solve any problems, it's a strategy to try to break a spiral for a few minutes.
