hey, i didn't tell you guys, but I DID THE THING!!!

last week, i started my first business, here in the #bitcoinjungle. BEST FEELING i've EVER had walking into "work." hahaha, which did not feel one single bit like "working" even by the third day. (i'm only doing this F, S, and Sundays in November to *prove* the idea). and i'm having a blast.

all the coolest friends/ bitcoiners dropped by and bought coffees. if the initial investment is a "sunken cost" (until tourist season starts in December), then for the ¢10mil i invested in bulk coffee, milk, and baked goods... I MADE A 2.5X RETURN (in sats and colones 😉, thanks friends!) IN THREE DAYS. *

HOW I'M GROWING LOCAL BUSINESSES:
(the restaurant i'm in front of is selling breakfast tacos-- with handmade tortillas, gallo pinto, torta de huevos and a sweet, fried plantain on top --delicious!)

(neighborhood bakery that gave me a sweeeeeeeeet discount on the cakes... 🤗 i've asked them to make me a placard so i can advertise for them.)

but THE BEST PART IS HOW MUCH coffee and cakes I JUST GAVE AWAY.

i didn't charge a single local (or any Costa Rican, for that matter) a single colon, because the point wasn't actually to make money. the point was to build our local community and prove it works. i invited all the passersby for a ☕ and told them (en español ¡obvio!) how they too could make this business model work for them --why aren't we all doing this?!

we all agreed that i'm the only one CRAZY ENOUGH to put up a tent in the street (in front of a private, licensed business to keep it legal) and wave at everyone passing by. but someone's gotta go first.

was i scared? not really. it's just a grown-up version of a lemonade stand. my immigration lawyer says it doesn't seems like i'm breaking any rules... and well, thanks to the good folks of the Bitcoin Jungle community, i believe in myself. (everyone here has a project. this is mine.) even if all the local people i asked to help me totaaaaaally backed out (it's NOT normal in this culture to step outside of "normal" 🧿)... but i knew *i* would definitely DEFINITELY show up and do the thing. and that's sometimes all it takes-- just keep showing up.

*for giggles, i'm translating here:
¢10mil ($20) x 2.5 = ¢25mil ($50)
🚀📈🥳🎉
but half of that was in sats, so ...feeling GREAT.
