#EngenderedWriting 01 — How do you define #gender? Does this differ from the dictionary definition? Do your characters reflect society's role model, or your synthesis?
Oh, that's a difficult one. My WIP is a low-magic fantasy world. I basically let people define themselves. My problem is on the one hand, being respectful to #lgbt+ / #queer people of any gender identity and sexuality; and on the other hand, not recreating or being restricted to our world's current gender politics.
I try not to use culturally specific concepts like 'deadnaming'. But then, I ended up avoiding almost all gender and sexuality related words, perhaps going too far.
