Carrots. For storage, I like to leave the carrots in the ground as long as possible. So, I piled all the tarps, blankets, and old sheets (the ones used to protect tender plants from the first frosts) on top of one group of carrots to keep the ground from freezing.
Today, I noticed the neighbors’ dog helping add a little heat.
