Sockeye salmon are swimming upstream in the Pacific Northwest and finding their places in the rivers for spawning. Here's an underwater shot of a male. They look so different in their freshwater spawning colors compared to their ocean colors. As a fish biologist, these are the colors of fall I get excited about, more than watching leaves change.
