There’s something very interesting about the memberships of the Labour and Tory parties being at best irrelevant and at worst an impediment to electability. In order to govern you need to have mass appeal and nothing of any substance has mass appeal these days. You might call it a blandocracy if you were in to neologisms. Be too relevant to people’s actual wants and needs and you’re shutting yourself off from the majority that you need. (2/5)
