>Mario kart 9 will do gangbusters.

It better. Mario Kart 8 DX is actually my least favorite Mario Kart game because there is not much to unlock outside of new kart parts.

>A lot of people are excited for metroid prime 4.

There is no information about any version of it coming to Switch 2. Maybe there will be something like the GBC where games are enhanced on the Switch 2, but that's not going to get that much people to buy a Switch 2 unless you are truly devoted.

>probably be a new donkey Kong

Never cared about Donkey Kong, but from what I can tell, Retro has been doing nothing but remastering DKCR for over a decade, so maybe people would be excited for it. Maybe there is room for a DK64 spiritual successor.

>another 3d Mario

I haven't even played Odyssey yet but that game also felt like the ultimate 3D mario experience. Maybe they can make one that is even more open world, but that feels unfitting for a Mario game.

>I'd say it's likely we get another zelda remake.

They already remastered Skyward Sword and I don't see them doing a BoTW remaster anytime soon. A Link's Awakening style remake of any of the 2D games would be cool, but for what? The Oracle games or the Minish Cap would probably require another partnership with Capcom, PH and ST aren't fondly remembered enough to justify a remake, ALBTW is probably too recent, and I think Nintendo is done milking NES and SNES nostalgia, so I don't see a remake of those games happening.

>GameCube emulation

I think the only reason why Nintendo doesn't bother to digitally re-release those games is because of their large file sizes (it's their first disc-based console) and Nintendo consoles don't offer that much internal storage. Most of those games would probably only be playable with the GameCube controller adapter due to the lack of analog triggers on most modern Nintendo controllers.

>I think their biggest problem is in fact a new smash entry, there really isn't a whole lot they can do without really revitalizing it from the ground up. I would expect them to cut the roster back, change up movesets, and introduce completely new stages alongside some other gimmick.

Smash is a content focused series, despite it's unique gameplay. I don't know what they could do with it. Maybe bring back some of the bonus minigames, trophies, etc. They could have 3D stages like Shrek Super Slam, but that all I can think of.
