I like affinity systems in #metroidvanias (when they sre properly implemented, that is). As in "if your aura is the same colour as the enemy, you deal extra damage", or rock-paper-scissors style.
Souldiers, Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth, 9 Years of Shadows, and Overlord: Escape From Nazarick immediately come to mind as games using those as core mechanic for their gameplay.
Any others I could give a go?
