Better to imply or ignore it, as explicitly agreeing to something they said is bad rhetoric unless you have a really good trap set up. "So?" is an implicit agreement and a weak open-ended question, but "nobody cares" is an implicit agreement and flippant dismissal of their statement. You still need to follow it up with a biting open-ended question, as statements are weak rhetoric. Statements leave you directly open to criticisms, rebuttals and nitpicking, fails to guide the conversation, and leaves them open to respond however they wish without having to deal with what you said.
