Social media has been manipulated all the time. Some of this is done via the platform, some of this is done through corporations and ad agencies, and sometimes it is done by the state. Just because this plays to your confirmation bias doesn't mean it is legitimate.
Also, I've listened to it again. I am convinced she is lying because she puts too much detail into the story initially. She adds far too much detail around her asking the husband about it.
