While waiting for 30 TB HDDs to arrive, I've failed to notice that Western Digital Gold series latest version, the 26 TeraByte unit, ie ~26.000 GigaBytes of storage, has arrived at the European market. Does it do anything new and noteworthy?

In one word: No.

Spindle speed is still 7200 rpm, peak data transfer is 285 MBps, still has 512 MB cache memory, same MTBF and BER figures, almost the same Wattage as the rest. It explicitly uses the OptiNAND metadata cache from the HC 5X0 series, but I don't recall if the predecessors used it.

Expect it to retail around 600-700 Euros depending on location and seller.
