It's crazy how imbalanced the gen 3 starters really are. Why pick anything but Mudkip? Torchic has HORRIBLE matchups against the abundance of water and psychic types all throughout the game and the Treecko line is, well, the Treecko line. Meanwhile there's only like 4 pokemon that hard counter Swampert.
