Being diagnosed helped in the first place by giving me some external confirmation of what I already knew (dispite hating the idea of needing some formal legal confirmation from some authority), and gave me access to ways of coping with it I wouldn't have access to otherwise. Ind be particularly careful as there's lots of misogyny and transphobia in the psychiatric field, at least in France. Hopefuly it's better in your place, I believe the USA are quite advanced regarding ADHD.
