It seems that some recourse to fairness or justice is a key part of the human psyche. This need is pretty much universal. The response to an absence of recourse, though, is very culturally determined. Some cultures internalize the destructive rage caused by this intolerable sense of injustice. Some cultures externalize it in individual or communal acts of revenge.
One of the most common reasons for #suicide in Asian cultures is an intolerable sense of being wronged. 1/
