This thing with Facebook fact-checkers is really interesting to me. I absolutely do not agree with people that corporations should decide what is a fact and what is not a fact.
People need to know what is bullshit and what isn't bullshit. And they should be trained, and training themselves, in how to detect bullshit. Expecting corporate asshats to figure this out for you is a fool's errand if I've ever seen one.
Hate speech is different than just saying political shit that's not true. But once again, do we really want corporations deciding what is and isn't hate speech? They often decide that being pro-Palestine is a form of hate speech.
At the end of the day we don't want the government suppressing our speech, and we don't want corporations suppressing it either. They're not going to suppress speech the way we want them to suppress it. And we're about to see what I mean over the next couple of years.
Don't give the man power, he already has too much as it is.
