Thanks! It's actually because of the type of cancer I had. It was an aggressive type of thyroid cancer. My autoimmune disease is Hashimoto's, which slowly destroyed my thyroid gland until it was no longer functioning, and continued attacking it. Removing my thyroid left my body with nothing to attack, and so my autoimmune symptoms subsided.

That's not to say they won't return in another form at some point. I know that can happen. For now, I'm feeling better in some ways than I ever have.
