When the US wanted immigrants, it fed us bullshit about the melting pot. Now that it doesn't, it's building walls. This makes me think of a poem of mine (well why not -- no one else is going to) which is of course just a mashup: #poetry

Send Her Back

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand”
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Tells that its sculptor well those passions read
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
“My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”
