Do they figger that since the power requirements are high/voltage drop is big across all those LEDs that you shouldn't be daisy-chaining them?
I used to design+build custom LED displays, powering them with 74ls374s... I also drove small incandescent displays with a 2n222a transistor- 256 of them!
(My poor power supply ached)
