TL;DR - lots of water over *there* doesn't help if you can't treat it fast enough,and/or move it to where it needs to go (fast enough)
the repeating problem/theme is this:
- munics don't have a enough storage (reservoirs)
- the (rand water) pipes and pumps can only move X liters per unit-of-time
Then you turn up the heat, consumption goes up, and maybe throw in a tripped pump, and voila, shit storm.
Oh and also the while Lesotho angle.
Add to that a whole long term planning thing where RandWater and the munics agreed (?) to caps on usage,to ensure sustainability (taking the system constraints into consideration)
But Gauteng apparently is and has been consistently above that cap 🤷♂️
The other kak is, once a reservoir system has actually run dry,it is a real issue to get it up to pressure again - kinda like trying to fill a leaky bucket by pushing water through a straw ( we been through this at least twice nowl
Keep in mind this is all MY understanding of the situation, which might be totally wrong :p
