Don't get me wrong, there are some great one liners & parables in the Gospels:
"Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers and sisters, that you do unto to me"
"Love one another as I have loved you"
"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God"
But these aren't necessarily the focus of modern day "christians" as the prosperity gospel and the anger against socialist values and refugees demonstrate.
It's easier to quote Paul railing against LGBTQI people than Jesus who was friends with outcasts like tax collectors, sex workers and lepers, and never utter a word against homosexuality.
And across the centuries through to current day, the Bible has been used world over to control women, minorities and people without privilege.
That's been my experience anyway...
