It creates an ecosystem of centralized trusted verification authorities, which I'm not a fan of. Which domains do you trust that "validate" accounts? What level of validation did they do?
Some are cross-referencing accounts on Twitter.
Some are just accepting payments in sats, Ala Elon's $8.
Some might eventually do full KYP (Know Your Pleb) identity verification by checking Government issued ID.
I'm personally advocating for a completely different decentralized validation system based on a PGP-style web of trust where keys sign other keys to vouch for their identities. I need to write up a NIP to describe it though...
