The story of the Patron of love, Valentine, has uncertain origins and yet, being able to give solidity, it is February 14, 273 AD that we can date his death.
Legend has it that Aurelian, Emperor who succeeded Claudius II, gave orders for the capture and execution of Bishop Valentine, guilty according to the Romans, to have spread Christianity at the expense of glory and pagan religion.
Indeed, shortly before his beheading, Valentine consacrated the marriage between the Roman legionary Sabinus and the Christian Serapia. This, according to some sources of the time, was the reason for his execution. The rite was however celebrated quickly because the young woman was ill and indeed died immediately after the wedding. The legionnaire also died immediately afterwards, due to too much pain for the untimely death of his love.
