You Will Never Know Why (nprofile…pz9v) I'm arguing that Nintendo may have partly started the direct because game journos of the era were constantly negative about Nintendo. I specifically recall stopping going to GoNintendo (It posted ALL Nintendo news) because I couldn't fucking take it anymore. I couldn't take the Pachter posts, I couldn't take the weekly "what Nintendo should do" and I specifically remember them turning any positive news negative (IIRC, a Galaxy 2 announcement turning negative somehow)
