In a joint press conference with Houston leaders, Mayor Sylvester Turner slammed HISD Superintendent Mike Miles over his plan to close down school libraries and replace them with disciplinary centers.

"If you want to put [misbehaving students] in the gym, put them in the gym," Turner said. "But don't close the libraries."
