This is a surprising but welcome flex from the International Criminal Court. Duterte oversaw human rights abuses and crimes that led to tens of thousands of deaths by summary execution, all in the name of the “war on drugs” in the Philippines during his presidency.
Netanyahu has also been charged by the ICC with crimes against humanity. Duterte’s arrest will raise the stakes on that indictment considerably.
