In a 2022 DLF Forum session on crowdsourcing, one of the speakers (whose name I didn't record) said "avoid the cardinal sin of asking volunteers to do work that you will never use".
I took that to heart, as I was then managing a crowdsourced project where people had done so much work that we had a large backlog to review. So I'm very happy to report that the backlog is now cleared, and all their work is freely available and usable online!
