"Those who jumped ship can deal with the sharks themselves."

Don’t abandon the ship to save those who chose to leap.

It’s far too easy to persuade the return of someone who miscalculated the consequences while danger looms. Yet, the opportunist is loyal only to their own interests. If they’ve proven their loyalty to be weaker than the first hint of trouble, don’t expect gratitude or a transformation of character after their ordeal. Given another chance, they’ll act worse. The coward, in their desperation, thinks only of saving themselves. Even if they could spare you both, they’d drown you, using your body as a ladder, seize your ship, and tarnish your name.

Remember, no one would try to return to your life if the illusions that led them to leave had truly been as good as they imagined.

Their efforts to come back only prove their decisions were flawed.

What’s outside the ship is a mirage. You can’t save everyone. Your commitment is to protect those who chose to stay, to honor their loyalty, and to reward the trust that you would persevere—even amid doubt, rough seas, and the siren songs promising wonders and illusions.
