Tell me about something new you tried to do with a story. Did it stretch you?
Trying to make a story that is sexy and publishable on #Amazon is definitely a stretch. I have one draft at 90-95% where the protagonist consensually (and with reasonably good negotiation beforehand) spanks another character sexually. I didn't think anything of it. It's extremely tame.
Only to find out that Amazon is really rather a prude about anything BDSM related and they're worse when the story is queer in any way. Even stories "with ZERO SEXUAL CONTENT" can be targeted by Amazon.
Can I tell that story without the spanking? Sure. It's not the story I wanted to tell, though. There are fun challenges and challenges that help you grow as a writer. I'm sure trying to comply with Amazon's bizarre and discriminatory strictures would improve my writing. It won't improve the stories I tell because it will unnecessarily limit them.
