"summary",
"Shan Hanes, the former CEO of Heartland Tri-State Bank, was found guilty of embezzling $47 million from customer accounts and using the funds to invest in cryptocurrency. The scheme, known as 'pig butchering,' involved convincing victims to invest all of their money into cryptocurrency, which would then disappear. Hanes lost $1.1 million of his own money in the scheme and also stole from his church, investment club, and daughter's college fund. The FBI recovered the funds from a cryptocurrency account held by Tether Ltd. and will pay back the shareholders in full."
