You have kind of a similar origin story as me, but you're just waaaay ahead of where I'm at on my #Linux / #FOSS journey đ
After Windows 8 I felt like Microsoft was taking the system down a path that I did not want to follow, so I started looking for alternatives. I started dual-booting Ubuntu on my PC (in 2016 I believe?), and I was blown away by what it offered concidering it was completely free of charge. I've stuck around ever since, and for many years now I've ran exclusively Linux on my gaming computer.
I have also slightly interacted with #OpenBSD and #FreeBSD, but I have yet to do a proper test of those. For now, Linux provides me with what I need and I'm happy with that đ
