They did a bunch of other things which compound problems - eg multiplayer physics has moved to Azure, ATC comms is using some Azure AI services etc.

I actually managed to start the game tonight after an hour to load (lol), the ATC failed immediately, multiplayer is dead, airplanes load in without engines sounds etc.

I ran some pcaps and ultimately the backend they built fell apart, going to be like this for a while.
