I keep seeing these signs on restaurants and storefronts that say "beat the heat" followed by whatever pitch benefits them.

But it's all just air conditioning. It's just moving the heat from within to without. We abuse our own environments because it feels good.

Isn't it interesting? That abuse? That every time we beat the heat we make it stronger? Angrier? Worse?
