Mygod (npub1g2e…2p59) Rheristies (npub1lyr…pjx6) Idk I was diagnosed with autism as a child because i was socially retarded and had delayed speech development but I feel like I can read subtle social queues alright now, it just took a big change in how I relate to my environment and a bit extra time to grow up, since I was behind my peers. A sample size of one is not proof of course, but if autistic people think the only improvement they can get is being better at masking then it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. I think the way autistic people are sensitive to the room but don't know what to do with it is a good indicator. Pay attention to that sensitivity and learn what to do with it and social situations suddenly start to unravel into a kaleidoscope of sensations that let you connect and understand other people, although difficult because of the intensity, as you learn what to do with your own empathy.
