For this Reformed Christian, Trump is an antichrist. Let me tell you why. - Reformed Journal
I would never call myself a Christian, not for a long time. But this article is the kind of thing that would have resonated with me even I was.
Trump is an antichrist because he seeks to put himself in the place of Christ and because his words and actions are a grotesque and demonic travesty of the real Christ. But there is a further reason that he is an antichrist: There are people, including Reformed Christians, who embrace him as their supposed Messiah, even if they do not all seem to be fully aware that they are doing so. Without their support – their discipleship – Trump would only be an elderly former president who spends his time playing golf in Florida.
Trump is an evil man among evil men.
That half the country voted him in as president with full knowledge of what he is and what he will do speaks to a deep, deep sickness among white, Evangelical Christian men.
The church fell to the world a long time ago. Not to the devil; to the world. What more "worldly" institution is there than today's Evangelical Christian churches.
Prosperity gospel led to the poor being blamed for what our society does to them. To a Evangelical Christian, being poor is evidence that you've lost god's favor. You don't deserve mercy. It also caused the church and its people to love money far more more than works and deeds. They completely forget that god commanded its followers to give everything away.
The Protestant Work Ethic before that led to blaming the individual instead of the system in which they must struggle. It's never the government's fault, it's always the man or woman. Got cancer? Got laid off? You must have evil in your heart that you haven't yet confessed. The modern Christian god rewards hard work and faith with success. They forget that god often said its followers would be persecuted and punished.
And their racist, misogynistic, xenophobic, homophobic, transphobic, shockingly violent platform has always been the opposite of what's supposed to be the written word of Jesus Christ.
Evangelical Christianity embraces everything they claim belongs to Satan.
