I've realized as I’ve gotten older that there will always be people who are the “mean girls,” people who think they are the “cool kids,” no matter the age.

I see it all the time, on social media and even around my kids (the parents). It’s sad that people create opinions about others before truly knowing them. It’s sad that people can’t be polite—a simple hello, or a nod and smile, can change someone’s day.

I think about how my children will be affected as they get older. I also realize I can’t change people, but I can teach my kids to be kind. I can teach them compassion. I can teach them not to worry about what others think or do because we can’t change people. I can teach them that the world is filled with bullies, but the world can also be beautiful. I can teach them unconditional love. I can watch them grow into who they are meant to be, and I know that while I have no control over what their lives will be, I will let them know that as their mom, I will always be cheering them on. I will always be here for them without judgment, and I will always love them!
