Do you love someone TALL?
Tall people have colder feet than average-height people, because they're so far away from our centres of mass/heat. So we tuck our feet up beneath us in bed until they're warm and then we slowly move them down into resting position, it's a whole big thing that bothers us every single night and we don't like it.
So if you're looking for ideas for a wintertime gift for a tall person, a hot water bottle is a LIFE-CHANGINGLY WONDERFUL PRESENT
* Nice warm feet all night long yay
* Bedtime routine of filling the bottle becomes part of time-to-sleep RITUAL, reinforcing that This Is The Time For Sleep, good for insomniacs
* Cat more likely to sleep with you
* Environmentally beneficial, thermostat can go lower at night while you're still toastywarm
* Even works outdoors
* Tip for gratuitously lazy people (such as myself) who spend the first coffee hour of the weekend wearing a big fluffy robe: cover the foot of the bed with your robe for extra insulation, and then in the morning put on a luxuriously pre-warmed robe, also works on day clothes if you don't move around much at night
* Work at a computer during the day? Put hwb in your lap and turn the thermostat down a degree, add a blanket and make it two degrees, dads are delighted by this one simple trick
* Also useful for sore muscles, period cramps, injuries, cortisol regulation (h/t npub1lgdkj7vcxxvwxs29rv7sf8s3ve0gurpswjr77h5aztq5tvqmgcuq3le4sf (npub1lgd…e4sf) https://zirk.us/@ShaulaEvans/113435019605658718)
* CHEAP AS CHIPS, spend maybe a tenner; if you want to make a Big Gift pair it with a smaller throw for extra insulation at the foot of the bed and/or some thick soft socks
* Also work on normal size people but tall people with cold feet will love it especially and associate you with warmth <3
