Given the history of vast migrations over time by Whites (in China in the B.C.s, vikings traveled to America and others possibly did much earlier) combined with the extreme change in climate caused by the cycle of ice ages (much of the northern and even mid latitudes of America were under an ice sheet not that long ago, and ice dams created enormous lakes that caused massive floods when they melted) it seems far more likely that proto-humans were always on the move, traveling all over the earth over the millennia.

The ones that tended to stick to the colder, northern climates gradually became Whites and Asians, while those that stuck to the hotter drier climates remained as proto-humans (blacks, abos)
