I've played a bit of stalker 2 to form an opinion on it, I think it's alright so far. Everything everyone has said about the performance being bad is probably true, even my shit cries a little running it on max settings at 1440p, but a few settings tweaks made it run much better.
In terms of gameplay, I think I'm just really happy they didn't go down the route of every other large budget game of having perks and having x ray vision, and seemingly have doubled down on making it an immersive experience. I like that most quests don't seem to have a "please everyone and get the most profit" option that other games do, I like that there's a point at which the player should reasonably say "fuck you" to the quest giver and finds greater reward by doing so. Gunplay is fine-ish. This is one element where I wish they had gotten a little more immersive on, either proper ballistics simulation with the crappy wood walls serving as poor cover, or with like a limb damage system so that enemies might actually, you know, flinch when shot?
It's appropriately difficult on the Veteran difficulty, though I'd argue that headshot multipliers should be a little higher, its odd watching a bandit with nothing but a balaclava on his head walk off a headshot from 5.45x39 at short range. For me I'd say outside of fighting certain annoying mutants it's not too difficult, just under that threshold of "I like the way this sucks" that mods like Misery have set as my standard.
