Example: we are child-free because my wife & I didn't want to be parents, so we just didn't. We both heard "when you grow up and have kids of your own ..." our entire lives and that is a powerful factor to fight against.
It sounds obvious, but realizing & embracing that there are alternate ways of being was life-changing.
