But honestly I doubt they’ll even that be good for privacy. Firms will advertise that they’re using “differential privacy” to train their advertising models, and claim that it doesn’t leak any useful information about your data. But at the same time: they’re going to use this “privatized” data to build extremely predictive models that tell them everything about you. There’s no free lunch here.
